On behalf of the family, thank you,
“On behalf of my mother, sisters and the rest of the family I would like to say thank you for all the love, kind words and memories that have been shared with us, since yesterday but also over the past months. It has touched us deeply that Johan was such an inspiration to many of you. We would like to express our special thanks to all the doctors and medical staff who have supported us until the end.” Jordi Cruyff
The family is currently making arrangements for a private farewell to Johan as their beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Once again, we do ask you to respect the privacy of the family in these emotional and sensitive times.
We are aware that many people would like to pay tribute to and celebrate Johan’s life. We are also aware that various tributes in memory of Johan will take place and we welcome any kind of celebration in honor of his life. However, it’s important to mention that none of them are memorials organized or endorsed by the Cruyff family or Cruyff management.
In the upcoming days we will communicate via www.johancruyff.com when a memorial endorsed by the family and Cruyff Management will take place.
On behalf of the family,
PS We do know and approve of the tributes organized by FC Barcelona, Ajax and KNVB. -Cruyff Management-
On March 24 2016 Johan Cruyff (68) died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cancer. It’s with great sadness that we ask you to respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.
After several medical treatments I can say that the results have been very positive, thanks to the excellent work of the doctors, the affection of the people and my positive mentality. Right now, I have the feeling that I am 2-0 up in the first half of a match that has not finished yet. But I am sure that I will end up winning.
On behalf of Johan Cruyff we would like to thank all the people who sent emails, letters and cards wishing Johan Cruyff all the best, giving him the best possible support and advise. Unfortunately we are not able to reply and answer to all the messages we have received and continue to receive from all over the world. We will cherish them, collect them and share them with Johan Cruyff and his family.
Over the past weeks, Johan Cruyff has been undergoing medical examinations at a hospital in Barcelona. During these examinations, lung cancer has been uncovered. The examinations are still ongoing. To respect the privacy of Johan and his family, and the fact that the examinations have not been finalized, further announcements cannot be made at the moment. We hope that people are willing to respect the privacy of Johan and his family. We will make further announcements when the examinations have been finalized.
